Siena

Piazza del Campo in Siena, Italy

Siena

After leaving Rome, I spent 2 nights in Siena. A very quiet town but very nice. We did a day trip to San Gimignano which is a small walled medieval hill town in the province of Siena, Tuscany, north-central Italy – gorgeous!

Little street in San Gimignano

In Siena the architecture soars.  Effectively a giant, open-air museum to the Gothic, its spiritual and secular medieval monuments still sit in harmony, many filled with collections of Sienese art. Add vibrant streets where every third door (literally) opens into a restaurant, enoteca or deli, and you’re in for a very fine time indeed.

I love travelling and try to go 'off the beaten track' as much as possible. I've travelled through out 50+ countries and cannot wait to reach my next target of visiting a total of 100 countries around the world.
